AM....
Rita has shifted it's
track. I'm still unsure whether it'll hold its ground. This is very good
news for us. We can't even get out of our neighborhood now with all the
traffic.
The small airport right next door has had
small planes and even jets leaving all day, which has been neat to
watch.
We are taping windows and
collecting water to get through the storm.
Right now there is not a cloud in the sky,
no breeze and its extremely hot. Our forecast today is:
This Afternoon: Mostly sunny, with a
high around 98. Heat index values as high as 103. East wind around 10 mph.
The news is interviewing people stuck in
the traffic trying to leave town. One lady said it took 8 hours to get
through Houston. Going East isn't much better. The traffic is so bad that
people are having to abandon their vehicles because they are over
heating...or running out of gas before they can get to the other side of
Houston. There is very little
gas left anywhere. The city is facing the fact that they will need to find
refuge for these people stranded. What
makes things even more difficult is the law that states if a car is
sitting on the side of the road for a matter of a few minutes it will be
towed. Some people just need a few min to fix a tire or let their car
cool. |
