Closer to
Vega it turns into odd horizontal lines pointing South. (It was quite a
show.) The vidcam work is shaky, but the scene was awesome. Lightning
flashes are everywhere. We continue
toward Vega. The lines turn into three very distinct lines.
Just as we enter Vega the horizontal lines are gone and the
dust is being kicked up again rising higher into the air, but this time
the dust is kicked up toward the south. Rotation is spotted as the car
is peppered with sand. The dust starts to head for the
clouds then falls apart...a very nice gustanado.
A rainbow graces the sky along with some great
sunset lit clouds.
Then
Lightning becomes our prime target as it becomes dark. We chase the
storm back towards Amarillo. Radar later that night shows that our cell
joined a cell to the Northeast to for a line of storms.
